”Liberty Belle”

The Liberty Bell is one of our country's most notable symbols of freedom. This bell was originally cast in London, England in 1752. It was originally intended for the Pennsylvania State House, now known for Independence Hall. The bell is most known for the crack during a test ring. the bell was melted down and recast in 1753 by John Pan and John Stow. After this repair, it was probably rung at the first reading of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia on July 8, 1776.
The main inscription on the bell reads, "Proclaim Liberty throughout all the LAND unto all the inhabitants thereof LEV XXVX"
